When we talk to people about canopies, an awning is normally their first thought. If you walk down any UK high-street you will see them on shops helping to protect from the sun.
There are two major designs – retractable cassette awnings and more traditional Shop, or Dutch, awnings.
An awning is there to protect from harmful UV rays. They are used extensively to provide shade over windows helping to reduce glare within the room. By shading the glass, you are also helping to keep the room cool (much more efficiently than internal blinds or curtains).
A cassette awning will be fitted to the building and the powder coated cassette encloses all of the mechanism and cloth. Once retracted these are very neat systems which can be operated electrically or manually with a crank handle.
Walking down any UK high street and you will see Dutch awnings in use. They are most cost-effective solution for shading windows and doors whilst adding a touch of class. They are simple to fit making them the first choice for shops and boutiques – especially when you add signwriting.
